Jamie Smith at a Glance
From humble beginnings, Jamie has propelled himself to the forefront of the brass band movement. His expertise range from teaching, conducting and performance with a specialism in chamber music.
Jamie currently holds the principal seat of the world famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band and is one of the founding members of the award winning A4 Brass Quartet.

Jamie has a keen interest in conducting all ages and standards of musicians.
In addition to freelance conducting, he currently directs Bradford Youth Orchestra and has taken the baton at BD1 Brass, a Yorkshire first section brass band.
Jamie has performed in some of the biggest concert halls across the world with orchestras, brass bands and chamber groups.
As the current principal cornet of the Grimethorpe Colliery Band, Jamie performs extensively in venues across the UK.
Further afield, Jamie's work and performances with the A4 Brass Quartet has earned the group international recognition.
Jamie is passionate about brass teaching and has worked in a range of educational settings including at universities, conservatoires and high schools.
Alongside his role at the Bradford Music Education Hub, Jamie takes an active role in the youth development at Grimethorpe Colliery Band, and has a keen interest in creating opportunities for young people in the community.
